STONE - There's a definite need for this field, and the 3 classes None (stony 0), Slight (Stony 1,2), and Very Stony (stony 3,4,5) are useful and not too onerous for pedologists to estimate for each CMP soil. Stones, as a surface condition, are different than Coarse Fragments within particular soil layers - we have some very stony soils (stony 4 to 5), with no coarse fragments underneath, for example. STONES are a new SLC attribute that will impact on agriculture capability (CLI) and other interpretations, and can't be derived from SNF and SLF attributes.
